Euphoria in the Keys

“Euphoria” actress Sydney Sweeney recently bought a 7,720 sq ft oceanfront house in the Florida Keys, joining other celebrities in the area. The property features six bedrooms, six bathrooms, an infinity pool, a private boat launch, a 520-bottle wine room, a gym, and a game room.

The Florida Keys have long been a favored destination for celebrities. The list of famous residents includes the late Jimmy Buffett, Kathie Lee Gifford, Scott Baio, Jeff Bezos, Shakira, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Gisele Bünchden, Luke Combs, and many others.

The allure of the Keys for high-profile individuals extends beyond the tropical atmosphere and exceptional weather. According to experts, the main attraction lies deeper. Terri Spottswood, a broker at Truman Co., explains, “The Keys have always been a ‘live and let live’ place. They offer a sense of privacy that appeals to those in the public eye. Here, celebrities are treated like everyone else and allowed to blend in.”

The Keys have been a sanctuary for authors, painters, presidents, songwriters, musicians, and actors for years. “The island’s environment provides inspiration and tranquility. It’s far enough from the hustle and bustle of major cities yet close enough for quick trips,” Spottswood adds.

Dawn McComish of Lokation Real Estate refers to the phenomenon as “tropical anonymity.” She explains, “People who live here are busy working and living our lives in paradise. It’s rare that we recognize a celebrity. Tourists are so busy enjoying their vacation, they aren’t looking for celebrity sightings.”

Sweeney, the star of “White Lotus,” has embraced her new tropical lifestyle. She recently shared photos on Instagram of her and her dog, Tank, enjoying their time in the Keys. “You, me, tank, and @jimmychoo looks like the start of a perfect summer,” she captioned the post.

Sydney Sweeney, earlier this year, accomplished a significant personal goal by paying off her mother’s mortgage, a childhood dream of hers. She expressed to WhoWhatWear how important this was for her. In a 2023 Variety interview, she shared that her drive to succeed was fueled by her parents’ sacrifices, feeling a deep responsibility to make their efforts worthwhile.
