President Joe Biden, 81, had a medical check-up after concerns about his mental fitness following a recent debate. Speaking to 20 governors, Biden shared his prognosis. A senior Democrat questioned Biden's health, attributing his debate performance to a cold and jet lag.

Amid growing skepticism, three senior Democrats have either called for Biden to withdraw from the race or predicted his defeat. Recent polls also show Donald Trump leading Biden by six points.

In a one-hour meeting on Wednesday, Biden assured attendees of his good health after the check-up. "I'm in fine shape," Biden reportedly stated, before knocking on wood for good measure, two attendees told Politico.

A source familiar with Biden’s schedule indicated that the president had a brief, routine check-up days after the debate due to cold symptoms, with no major tests conducted.

The announcement came shortly after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre evaded questions about Biden’s health examination following the debate.

On Tuesday, The Independent’s White House correspondent Andrew Feinberg pressed Jean-Pierre on rumors of Biden having dementia. She refuted the claims, stating, “There is no indication of any degenerative brain disease,” and expressed hope that similar scrutiny would be applied to Trump’s campaign.

Jean-Pierre observed that Biden faced challenges during the debate with Trump in Atlanta, Georgia, noting it wasn't his best night. However, she highlighted Biden's commitment to delivering for the American people. Jill Biden echoed this sentiment in a Vogue interview, emphasizing that the debate's 90 minutes should not overshadow Biden's four years as president.

On Wednesday, Biden met with his party to reassure them of his ability to serve another term. Earlier, he told campaign and DNC staff on a Zoom call, “No one’s pushing me out,” according to Politico. On Friday at 8 p.m. ET, he will be interviewed by George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s World News Tonight, a crucial moment for his campaign.
