Donnie Wahlberg, who brought Detective Danny Reagan to life, shared his reflections on this bittersweet milestone in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.

The finale closed with a poignant dinner scene — an apt farewell for a show rooted in family dynamics. Wahlberg described the profound silence on set after the director called the final "cut."

“We all stood there, kind of frozen,” Wahlberg recalled. “It was like we were waiting for someone to yell, ‘Just kidding—there’s another season!’ But when that didn’t happen, the weight of it hit us, and it was overwhelming.”

Beyond saying goodbye to his on-screen family, Wahlberg opened up about the deep connections forged with the show's crew. For over a decade, the cast and behind-the-scenes team had built more than just a show—they’d created a close-knit community. "Knowing it was the end for them too—families, livelihoods, careers—made it even harder to walk away," Wahlberg admitted.

Reflecting on Blue Bloods' legacy, Wahlberg expressed pride in portraying the people of New York and the NYPD with authenticity. "This wasn’t just a job; it was a family, both on and off-screen. Saying goodbye felt like leaving a piece of my heart behind."
