Irwin Gala Shock
Wildlife crusader and beloved TV figure Bindi Irwin faced an unexpected medical crisis that derailed her appearance at the 2025 Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas. The 26-year-old daughter of legendary conservationist Steve Irwin was forced to skip the star-studded charity event after being hospitalized for an emergency appendectomy. According to her brother, Robert Irwin, Bindi made the trip intending to attend the tribute but was rushed into surgery shortly after arriving.
Robert told People that Bindi had planned to attend the gala despite being in visible pain, determined to push through the discomfort. However, doctors intervened, insisting her appendix needed to be removed immediately.
The sudden health scare came just months after Bindi publicly shared her long battle with endometriosis — a chronic condition she endured for over ten years before receiving a proper diagnosis. Her strength in confronting personal health challenges has made her a powerful voice in both women’s health and wildlife conservation.
Bindi’s mother, Terri Irwin, also withdrew from the gala to remain by her daughter’s side during her recovery. Their absence marked a rare moment in the event’s history, which has taken place annually since 2002 to raise awareness and funds for Wildlife Warriors, the conservation charity founded by the Irwin family.
Despite being unable to attend, Bindi had posted to Instagram just one day before her surgery, expressing excitement about the evening and her passion for preserving her father’s legacy. The gala celebrates the life and mission of the late Steve Irwin, globally known as the "Crocodile Hunter," who passed away in 2006 after a tragic stingray incident.
Although Bindi missed this year’s tribute, Robert shared that she’s recovering well and staying positive — even while disappointed to miss such a meaningful night. With her trademark resilience, she’s expected to return soon to both public life and her work in conservation.
