Gabriel’s Not Done Yet
Lucas Bravo may have been over playing Gabriel, but that’s not stopping him from suiting up as the sexy Parisian chef one more time.
Despite publicly slamming the direction his character took in recent seasons, Bravo is confirmed to return for season 5 of Emily in Paris. Showrunner Darren Star set the record straight in a new interview with Deadline, saying the whole “he might quit” drama was blown out of proportion.
“I think he was never intending not to come back,” Star said, calling the situation “just a misunderstanding.”
Bravo’s return might surprise fans who remember him venting in 2023 about feeling disconnected from Gabriel — especially after playing him for four seasons. He complained the role had become too moody, too repetitive, and not at all what it used to be.
“I’ve never been so far away from him,” Bravo told IndieWire last fall, explaining that the “sexy chef” persona had faded and been replaced with something a lot gloomier.
He even questioned whether it made sense to keep going, since his contract ended after season 4. And yet, cameras are now rolling on season 5 — and Bravo is back in chef whites.
The new season picks up after Emily's dramatic move to Rome, where she snagged a big job promotion and a new flame, Marcello (played by Eugenio Franceschini). But according to Star, there’s still plenty of love triangle chaos ahead — Gabriel included.
Behind the scenes, things seem to be looking up for Bravo too. He’s dating actress Shailene Woodley, and the two have made their romance pretty Instagram-official. First came PDA-filled Paris photos, then a couple snap from Stagecoach Festival. It’s the most public he's ever been about his love life.
So while Bravo may have had doubts about his role, fans can rest easy — Gabriel’s not going anywhere just yet.
