Courtroom Chaos for Phypers

Aaron Phypers — the estranged husband of actress and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Denise Richards — is facing renewed scrutiny after being arrested at a Los Angeles courthouse on October 17, 2025.

According to Us Weekly, the 53-year-old was taken into custody moments after both he and Richards testified during a hearing regarding her request to extend a temporary restraining order against him. Witnesses described the dramatic scene as Phypers was escorted out of the courtroom and led away by authorities, leaving Richards inside with her legal team.

In a statement shared with Us Weekly, Phypers’ spokesperson confirmed the arrest and expressed confidence in his innocence, saying they believed the charges stem from “the same false accusations” previously made in family court.

Phypers was later released on a $200,000 bond and reportedly appeared calm upon his release. His representatives claim the situation was unexpected and that neither he nor his attorneys were aware an arrest was imminent.

The domestic dispute between Richards, 54, and Phypers has been unfolding publicly since July, when the actress filed for a restraining order and accused her estranged husband of years of physical and emotional abuse. Phypers has consistently denied the allegations, calling them “conjured up.”

“Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone,” Phypers said in a previous statement to Us Weekly.

During the October hearing, testimony was also heard from Phypers’ mother, Patricia Phypers, who alleged that she once saw Richards throw a household item at her son during a heated argument — though she maintained that Aaron had never been violent toward Denise.

The court has not yet ruled on whether to extend Richards’ restraining order, with a follow-up hearing scheduled for November 7.

Richards and Phypers began dating in 2017 and married the following year in Malibu, a ceremony featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The actress was previously married to Charlie Sheen, with whom she shares two daughters, Sami and Lola, as well as an adopted daughter, Eloise.
