Meghan Trainor has addressed the growing online chatter surrounding the so-called “toxic” Hollywood mom group saga.

On January 12, the singer took to TikTok, lip-syncing a scene from Stranger Things season 5 in which Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher) warns her friends that Mr. Whatsit is dangerous. Trainor mouthed, “Come on, you have to believe me. Please! You have to believe me. You have to,” alongside a caption reading, “Me still trying to convince everyone I’m not involved in the mom group drama,” and added, “I swear I’m innocent,” with a praying hands emoji.

Following her January 1 essay for The Cut, High School Musical alum Ashley Tisdale French revealed she decided to leave a celebrity mom group after feeling increasingly left out. The 40-year-old actress described sensing distance from the other members, writing, “I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs… I could sense a growing distance between me and the other members of the group, who seemed to not even care that I wasn’t around much.”

Although she didn’t publicly name anyone, social media users speculated that Meghan Trainor, Mandy Moore, and Hilary Duff were part of the group. A representative confirmed to TMZ that the essay was not aimed at those stars. Tisdale French and her husband, Christopher French, are parents to daughters Jupiter, 4, and Emerson, 16 months.

Trainor weighed in on the situation on January 8 via TikTok, sharing a video of herself at a desk typing to her track “Still Don’t Care,” with the caption: “Me finding out about the apparent mom group drama.” Her husband, Spy Kids actor Daryl Sabara, added to TMZ, “No drama over here, just trying to keep the kids happy… I hope she’s OK, though.” The couple shares sons Riley, 4, and Barry, 2.

An insider speaking to Us Weekly said the tension arose as some moms naturally grew closer, leaving Tisdale French feeling left out, without any malice. The episode illustrates how social media can amplify private disagreements among celebrity parents like Trainor, Moore, and Duff.
