Naomi Watts Gets Candid
Naomi Watts is opening up about how candid conversations at home have shaped her approach to breaking down taboos around menopause.
During an April 16 interview with People, Naomi Watts reflected on parenting moments that intersect with her advocacy for women’s health, including a lighthearted but telling encounter involving one of her children. The Oscar-nominated actress —widely recognized for roles in Mulholland Drive and collaborations with filmmakers like David Lynch — recalled how the discovery of a personal item led to an unexpectedly open discussion.
“I mean, I do remember the first time one of my kids saw lube in the bedroom, and they were like, ‘What?’ And I said, ‘Yes, yes, you know, by the way, lube is sold at Urban Outfitters now.’ And they’re like, ‘No way, no way!’” Watts said, using the moment to underscore shifting cultural attitudes. She added that such reactions signal a broader reduction in stigma surrounding menopause and related topics.
Watts shares two children — Sasha, 18, and Kai, 17 — with her former partner, Liev Schreiber. The pair, who were together for 11 years before separating in 2016, have remained notably aligned in their co-parenting philosophy. Their approach has often been cited alongside other amicable Hollywood separations, reflecting a growing emphasis on stability and collaboration post-breakup.
Following their split, Watts married Billy Crudup in 2023, while Schreiber wed Taylor Neisen the same year. Both have since expanded their families, with Schreiber and Neisen welcoming daughter Hazel Bee. Crudup, known for his work across film and stage — including projects connected to creatives like Mary-Louise Parker, with whom he shares a son — brings his own parenting experience into the blended dynamic.
Despite their split, Watts and Liev Schreiber have maintained a respectful, collaborative approach to co-parenting, reflecting a broader industry shift toward modern family dynamics often associated with figures like Gwyneth Paltrow. Both have emphasized their ongoing commitment to supporting one another and prioritizing their children.
