Jessi Draper Regrets Kiss
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jessi Draper is looking back on her brief kiss with costar Chase McWhorter, which later became a major point of tension within the MomTok circle.
Speaking on the Thursday, May 14, episode of Hulu’s Get Real podcast, Draper, 33, said the kiss happened once at a party and came during a difficult period after her split from Jordan Ngatikaura, 28. “It was awful. I mean, it wasn’t an awful kiss, that sounded bad, but it was just an awful situation,” she said.
Draper explained that she had leaned on Chase, 31, while emotionally vulnerable and amid growing fractures within MomTok. She also acknowledged that alcohol played a role.
Us Weekly confirmed in March that Draper and Chase briefly kissed at a mutual friend’s party. Chase was previously married to Draper’s Mormon Wives costar Miranda McWhorter, 28.
During the podcast, Draper said she remains “Team Miranda” and regrets the incident. She said both she and Chase immediately recognized the mistake, apologized, and told Miranda the next morning. Draper added that she understood why both Miranda and Kate Racker, another of Chase’s former partners, were upset.
The JZ Styles founder also issued another public apology, describing her decision-making after the divorce as reckless.
The controversy unfolded as tensions among the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast continued to fuel the Hulu series, whose wider MomTok storyline has also prominently involved Taylor Frankie Paul.
Miranda previously told Entertainment Tonight that Chase informed her about the kiss, while Draper contacted her only after Miranda already knew something was going on. She said she felt disrespected by Chase and disappointed by Draper as a friend, while stressing that Chase is now only her coparent.
