However, shares of such companies closed down: Home Depot (NYSE: HD) -0.70%, Walmart (NYSE: WMT) -1.20%.

It is worth noting that on NYSE the number of securities that went up (2203) exceeded the number that closed in the red (975), while quotes of 124 stocks remained practically unchanged. On Nasdaq, 2,404 companies rose in value, 1,420 declined and 231 remained flat at the previous close.
